The Presets - This Boy's In Love

Artist: The Presets

Rating: 3/5

It's quite the cliche to use common phrases such as 'the band seem to have grown, both artistically and emotionally since their first release', however this is really the case with The Presets.

'This Boy's In Love' is taken from their sophomore album, 'Apocalypso', and can be best described as what happened after they found 'the one'.

As its title gives away, it's a declaration of love, but also of escape as the lyrics "this town, these streets, your friends, you'll never see this place again. You'll think about it now and then, you'll never see our face again" encapsulate perfectly.

As is standard procedure with The Presets, it's all keys and synths, but they manage to capture the strange ethereal nature of the emotion and all things that come with it. If anything, it's a welcome break from the unrelenting testosterone-fuelled songs we usually associate with them.

'This Boy's In Love' is released as a single through Modular on 9th June 2008.
